Celebrating Georgetowner Julia Child's 100th Birthday

Before she belonged to Paris, Julia Child belonged to Georgetown.

Julia Child, a sometimes Georgetown resident, would be celebrating her 100th birthday if she were still alive today. The famed chef once lived in Georgetown on Olive Street with her husband, Paul.

Georgetowner Carol Joynt highlights the Child's Georgetown connection in her recent post on Washingtonian.

The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History has a special display of Child's Cambridge, MA kitchen for a limited time, Aug. 15 through Sept. 3. The display is partnered with special screenings of episodes of Child in WGBH’s “The French Chef.” Child donated her kitchen and hundred of cooking tools in 2001, three years before her 2004 death.
