DC Offers Free Holiday Parking

Find out when you can let your parking urges loose.

The District of Columbia Department of Public Works announced that parking meters will not be enforced on Christmas and New Year's Day, so grab that M Street parking spot and stay there all day long.

Residential parking and rush-hour lane restrictions will also be lifted during the holidays, DPW said.

But don't anticipate free parking too soon or leave your car overnight on Christmas or New Year's Day.

The city will enforce meters, residential parking and lane restrictions leading up to the holidays and immediately after, DPW said.
