Despite Wal-Mart Threats, Living Wage Bill Passes

The District Council voted to approved the Large Retailer Accountability Act, which could require retailers of a certain size and profit level to pay workers a living wage of no less than $12.50 an hour, rather that the minimum wage of $8.25. Wal-Mart swiftly rebuked the council and said it will cancel three remaining planned stores in D.C. It's up to Mayor Vincent Gray to veto or sign the bill. Read more. 

Good Stuff Eatery Opening Late July in Georgetown

Two years after Chef Spike Mendelsohn announced he would be bringing his burger restaurant to Georgetown, it looks like Good Stuff Eatery will finally be opening later this month. Read more.
