Community Corner

WalkingTown DC and BikingTown DC

WalkingTown DC and BikingTown DC expands this fall to a ten-day journey into the history and culture of Washington, DC, from September 23 to October 2. Presented by Cultural Tourism DC, this citywide event presents more than 100 free guided walking and biking tours through all eight wards of the city. From the well-known to the unfamiliar, tour topics explore all things DC, including neighborhood history, art, community heritage, the environment, and much more.

In addition to a full schedule of weekend tours, the new edition will feature weekday tours, including lunch hour tours and after work tours, tour itineraries, and special events.  WalkingTown DC and BikingTown DC will also include a series of tours exploring DC’s involvement in the Civil War, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

A complete schedule of tours and special events will be available in early September. Tours are led by professional guides, community leaders, historians, and others who volunteer their time and expertise to lead interesting and informative tours. All WalkingTown DC and BikingTown DC tours are free and open to the public. Many tours are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Tours vary in distance and pace accommodating all fitness levels. Many tours will require advanced registration available at www.CulturalTourismDC.org in early September.
