First Lady to Sign Books at Politics & Prose

First Lady Michelle Obama will be signing her best-selling book, "American Grown: The Story of the White House Garden and Gardens Across America."

Politics & Prose in Chevy Chase, D.C. will host First Lady Michelle Obama for a book signing next week. The First Lady will sign copies of her best-selling book "American Grown: The Story of the White House Garden and Gardens Across America."

The book signing is planned for Tuesday, May 7, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Politics & Prose, located at 5015 Connecticut Ave. NW.

The event is open to the public, but there is limited space. To attend, you must line up outside of the store by 9 a.m. to receive one of a limited number of wristbands for admission.

Here's how to attend the event:

"Customers wishing to attend the signing on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, must pre-purchase (reserve) a copy of American Grown from Politics & Prose on Thursday, May 2.  Politics & Prose will keep your copy of American Grown at the store.  You will need to bring your store receipt and a valid government issued photo ID with you on Tuesday, May 7.  You will then receive a color coded wristband for entrance to the book signing."

According to a press release from Politics & Prose, the following restrictions apply to attend the event:

• one copy of American Grown may be signed per customer;

• no other books or memorabilia may be brought to the signing;

• wristbands for entry to this event will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis with purchase of American Grown at this event location beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2;

• wristbands will be limited to one per customer;

• customers must complete a security screening form in person; 

• customers may not provide security information for other participants. 

All author proceeds from the book sales go to the National Park Foundation (www.nationalparks.org), the official charity of America’s national parks.
