Georgetown Bulldog, JJ, Up for Adoption

The recently fired mascot needs a new home.

JJ, the recently "retired" Georgetown bulldog mascot, is in need of a new home. Father Christopher Steck is looking for a local family to adopt the pup.

JJ (Jack Jr.) had just taken over for Jack the bulldog at the end of the most recent basketball season, but JJ was retired from his position as part of a settlement agreement with two parents whose child was bitten by the puppy last fall, The Hoya reports.

In the Capital was the first to report on Steck's tweet Thursday morning about the adoption efforts.

Steck linked to a document detailing some of his ideal criteria for the family adopting JJ:

1) a home with experience raising disciplined, well-behaved dogs.
2) local residence, so that I can see the home and help get JJ acclimated over a couple
of trips (i.e., one short visit, one longer visit, then permanent transition)
3) a fenced-in backyard
4) multiple adults living at home, and/or at least one regularly/often at home
5) stability
6) either no dogs, or a dog that has been shown to work well with JJ
7) if children, would need to discuss
