Why Go: In the market for this summer's beach books? According to this event listing, the Friends of Palisades Library is having a "huge" used book sale: "We have over 10,000 books for sale. Most books are $1 each. On Saturday we will have a bag sale of books for $10 per bag. Children's books are 50 cents to $1. There will also be a room of 'bargain' books selling for 25 cents each, or by the bag for $3 per bag, both Friday and Saturday."

Why Go: According to the event listing, Georgetown University Medical Center hosts Music for the Mind, a special evening at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, featuring Wayne Brady Sings the Sammys. By purchasing special tickets designated as "Music for the Mind" on Saturday, "you’ll be supporting young investigators’ research in neuroscience at Georgetown."

Pricing: These tickets are pricey, starting at $250 each, which include admission to a cocktail buffet reception and the concert.

Why Go: The Arlington Food Assistance Center Young Professionals is hosting a second annual Hunger Is No Joke fundraiser. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the The entry fee includes two drink tickets, complimentary appetizers and "access to the best party in the area."
