Get Out: Winter on the Water, Arlington Planetarium Benefit Concert & More

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it?

1. Winter on the Water and Swedish Christmas Bazaar

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday stop by the Embassy of Sweden's Christmas Bazaar and then from 4 to 7 p.m. enjoy the ice rink events at the Washington Harbour.

Why Go: The grand opening event for the new waterfront ice rink will feature ice skating performances, a St. Lucia presentation and special food and beverages. At 5:15 the Swedish choir will present a St. Lucia procession from the bazaar into the Washington Harbour plaza.

Cost: Free to attend. Skating is $9 for adults, $7 for children, seniors and military, and skate rentals are $5.

2. IOTA Benefit for Arlington Planetarium

When/Where: The IOTA Club & Cafe is hosting a benefit for Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium at 8 p.m. Monday at IOTA, 2832 Wilson Blvd.

Why Go: Listen to live music and help raise money for programming for the newly reopened planetarium.

Cost: A $10 minimum donation is requested. 

3. Holidays Through History

When/Where: 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Tudor Place, Dumbarton House, Woodrow Wilson House (2340 S St. NW) and Anderson House (2118 Massachusetts Ave. NW).

Why Go: Explore four mansions and take in their festive holiday decorations. As you wander through these historic homes you will discover traditional holiday elements from the Federal period through the Gilded Age, according to the event notice. Shuttle bus transportation will be provided between sites.

Cost: The four-museum pass is $16 for adults with advanced reservation, $20.00 at the door, and $10 for children. You may visit just one home for $10 for adults and $5 for children.

4. Ballston Bar Crawl to Benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief

When/Where: Festivities begin at noon on Saturday at the Front Page in Ballston, 1201 Wilson Blvd. 

Why Go: Raffle and poker and all for a good cause.

Cost: $10 registration fee.

5. Football 101 and Live Game Watch

When/Where: 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rafik Hariri Building on Georgetown University's campus.

Why Go: Learn about football from former players Warren Powers and Bobby Johnson. Then stick around to enjoy Rocklands barbecue, an open bar and the Eagles vs. Cowboys game.

Cost: $25 includes dinner, beer and wine. All proceeds will be donated to Septima Clark Public Charter School.
