Hang On, Georgetown! Weather Advisory Warns of Dangerous Winds

Predictions of gusts up to 50 MPH.

If you've already gotten the lawn furniture out to the patio, you may want to bring it in or fasten it down. And careful on the roads.

The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind advisory, predicting gusts of up to 50 MPH for Georgetown and the area.

From the DC Alert System:

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory...which is in effect from 6pm this evening to 11am EDT Thursday.

* Timing...Wednesday evening through Thursday morning

* Winds...Northwest  20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Impacts...Scattered  trees and power line damage. Difficulty driving high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

A wind advisory means that wind gust of 45 to 55 mph are expected. Secure outdoor furniture and take care while driving high profile vehicles.
