Have You Ever Seen M Street Empty During Rush Hour?

Some people did Thursday evening when police shut the street down to investigate a "suspicious package." Here's how it played out on social media.

The investigation of a "suspicious package" closed down M Street for two hours on Thursday.

According to The Georgetowner, an "unattended backpack" was found in the Nike store near the intersection of M Street and Thomas Jefferson Street.

A Metropolitan Police Department bomb squad roped off the area, leaving people unable to get to their cars, drive through the street or go into many businesses, the article said.

About two hours after the discovery of the package, police reopened the street.
