Hey, Georgetown: You Have a New Patch Editor, and I'd Love to Hear Your Stories

Let me introduce myself. I'm Michelle Peirano, your new Georgetown Patch editor.

Hello, Georgetown. I’m thrilled to be the new editor for Georgetown Patch, where I’ll be keeping you informed and connected with all the latest local news. And I’d love for you to connect with me, too.

Before joining Patch, I covered Congress, national organizations and government agencies for Cronkite News Service, one of the many news organizations around town. While there, I reported on everything from gay marriage to environmental protests to the Redskins, immigration issues, gun control and more.

I also wrote local news and features in Arizona for the East Valley Tribune, a print and online newspaper geared toward residents of the East Phoenix Metropolitan Area, a place where a mural or little league game is at the heart of everyday life.

In that way, Georgetown is similar: A little neighborhood in a big place, where small things matter.

Originally from northern California, I studied digital journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Washington is my home now, and although I miss my small  California town on a little river, I’m pleased to have found a similar coziness in Georgetown alongside its own, not-so-small, river.

News is my passion, and I am also interested in food and nutrition, the arts and social issues. And, of course, Georgetown.

Giving neighbors a way to communicate and inform one another is a vital service in a thriving community. I am honored to help keep the local dialogue alive. If you have a story, would like to get a conversation going or just want to get in touch with me, please send an email to michelle.peirano@patch.com.
