New Year's Trash Collection Schedule for Georgetown, Glover Park

There will be no trash collection New Year's Day; collections will slide one day.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) will not collect trash Tuesday, New Year's Day. Throughout DC, collections will slide one day.

Georgetown residents usually have trash collected twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. Instead collections this week will be made Wednesday and Saturday.

For Burleith and Glover Park residents, who usually have their trash collected once a week on Thursdays, collection will happen Friday instead.

"Trash and recycling containers should be put out for collection no earlier than 6:30 pm the night before collection and removed from public space by 8 pm on the collection day," according to the DPW news release.

Additionally, DPW will pick up holiday trees and wreaths curbside through Jan. 12.  DPW asks residents not to put trees in plastic or cloth bags.

Before you set your greenery on the curb, remove all decorations (including the pesky tinsel). Trees and wreaths should be placed in the treebox space in front of your home.

Trees collected through Jan. 12 will be recycled.
