Pepco Work Impacts Wisconsin Avenue, Volta and 35th Streets

Pepco trucks will continue to dot the landscape in Georgetown for the next several weeks as crews work on the Georgetown conversion project.

The conversion project in Georgetown is part of the $318 million Pepco 5-year
Reliability Enhancement Plan for the District of Columbia.

As part of the project, crews are installing new electrical conduits and replacing the existing 4kV feeders with 13kV feeders that will increase the capacity of the electrical system for the neighborhood.

Work areas so far have included:

• New manhole installation (three) at Reservoir Road and Wisconsin Avenue, NW
• Cable installation on Wisconsin Avenue between O Street and Volta Place, NW
• Conduit installation on Wisconsin Avenue between Reservoir Road and 33rd Street, NW
• Unspecified work on Volta Place between Wisconsin Avenue and 35th Street, NW

After this week work will continue onto 35th Street south of of Volta Place, NW, though Marcus Beal, a Pepco spokesperson was unable to confirm when that work would begin.

Beal also said there may be additional work areas in the weeks to come, but was also unable to provide a work schedule because of the changing demands for Pepco teams in the city.
