Rose Park Ribbon Cutting, Farmers Market Wednesday

Phase II reconstruction at Rose Park wrapped up this week.

Rose Park will be buzzing with activity this evening as the Board of Friends of Rose Park celebrate a ribbon cutting and farmers gather for one of the final market Wednesdays of the season.

The Friends of Rose Park will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Phase II renovations to the plaza and play area at 5 p.m. at 26th and O Streets, NW.

The upgrades, including new brick walk ways with engraved bricks, were funded entirely through private funding from the Georgetown community. Additionally, two new Yoshino cherry trees and nine new rose bushes, courtesy of the Georgetown Garden Club.

Last week Mayor Vincent Gray announced that the play area at Rose Park would soon received District funds for renovations.

Before or after the ribbon cutting, neighbors are invited to stop by the weekly farmers market. This week farmers and other stands will offer a selection of pumpkins, apple cider, gourds, breads and other items for a festive fall dinner.
