Route 42: Catchy Song About A Bus

What would the lyrics about your bus commute sound like?

Artist René Moffatt performed an ode to his bus commute in his song, "Route 42" at the Capital City Showcase in Adams Morgan (see video). Moffatt captures the essence of a bus commuter's plight in his upbeat, catchy tune, also featured in a music video.

The 42 bus runs from Mount Pleasant to Chinatown via Farragut Square.

"One bus, two bus, three bus, four, can't seem to find those open doors. At this rate how am I going to get anywhere?" he croons. "But here one comes, I'm getting nervous. I squint my eyes and it's out of service."

Once he's on the bus, he nails that feeling you get every time someone pulls the cord to get off the bus:

And my sanity is bein' tested
Constantly with every stop requested
Pull that cord and you might not make it home
