Surf Report: Must-See D.C. Websites

Looking at Metro's 'Service Nearby' feature, and the National Zoo's ZooFari

Looking for someplace fresh on the Internet? Here is Patch's weekly round-up of must-see Web destinations — many of which are geared specifically for D.C. residents.

  • Greater Greater Washington goes over the "Service Nearby" option on Metro's web site, which can locate nearby stations without the city name or zip code.
  • Like good food and animals? Then the National Zoo's ZooFari event may be up your alley. The ZooFari won't be until May 19, but you can buy tickets now; it's $50 cheaper for FONZ members.
  • FamousDC.com reports that the Offices of Van Scoyoc are holding an event called "We Are Alabama" on Tuesday, May 10, to help the victims of the recent disasters. Any donations made at the event must be submitted as checks.
  • The season's over, but there will still be plenty of news to follow on the Washington Capitals at Japers' Rink.
  • DCist's "Popcorn and Candy" highlights films playing around town on a weekly basis. Click here for this week's featured movies.
