Three D.C. Spots for a Halloween Thrill

Mapquest maps the best places in D.C. to get into the 'spirit' of Halloween.

Washington, D.C. can be a scary place (especially for a freshman member of Congress). This year Mapquest pulled together a list of the top three local events to get a real thrill. 

Washington's Most Haunted Houses

Check out the Washington Walks ghost tour of Lafeyette park and its environs. Tours start at the Octagon House, reportedly the most haunted house in D.C. They are held Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 29 at a cost of $15/person. No reservations necessary.

Fright at the Museum

The National Museum of Crime and Punishment owns an electric chair from the state of Tenn. on which five men met their maker between 1916 and 1960. During the days prior to and on Halloween, the museum turns into a "hunting ground for these dead men walking," as their website describes. Tickets are $25 and are available for Oct. 27-29 and Oct. 31.
