University Targets 20007 ZIP Code Before Final Campus Plan Review

Georgetown University: 'We value having you as neighbors!'

Two days before the final Zoning Commission hearing, Georgetown University sent the entire 20007 ZIP code a mailer (see PDF) in which officials tout recent and GU's positive economic impact in the District.

The mailer also includes a letter from Georgetown University President Jack DeGioia:

"We won’t always be perfect, but we appreciate that our neighbors
have joined us in a dialogue that will bring improvements and solutions for our entire community," wrote DeGioia.

The letter is similar to a to voice their support for the university and its expansion plan.

On the same day the mailer hit neighborhood mailboxes, the leaders of the neighborhood opposition to the plan sent an email entitled "Georgetown University Campus Plan Threatens Neighborhood." The Citizens Association of Georgetown and Burleith Citizens Association restated their continued objections to the plan and called on neighbors to attend "what we hope to be the final Zoning Commission hearing."

The Zoning Commission will take up the plan once again Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at 441 4th St., Suite 220-S.
