VIDEO: Local Filmmaker's on a Mission to Prove 'Americans Are Not Dumb'

Quizzes DC residents, visitors on knowledge of American history.

Watch a lot of Jimmy Kimmel Live? If you do, you likely watch the segments where someone from the show (Jimmy's cousin, we think) goes out and interviews people on the street about current events and other issues and usually, the interviewees fail miserably.

In DC, local filmmaker Jerry Yue Liu was on a mission over the Fourth of July weekend to see how much Americans — DC residents and visitors — knew about American history. He took his camera down to the National Mall to find out.

"I have been on a mission to prove that Americans are not dumb like some late-night TV and YouTube channels portray," he said in an email to Patch. "Here's some footage of Americans on the National Mall owning our Revolutionary War history."

Watch the video to see how they did and test your own knowledge!
