Weekend Guide: Concerts in the Park, Taste of Arlington and More

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it in Georgetown, Arlington and beyond?

1. Georgetown "Rocking the Green" Concert in the Park

When/Where: Sunday 5 p.m. in Volta Park.

Why Go:  The first of three scheduled Citizens Association of Georgetown summer concert events kicks off this Sunday evening with Georgetown's own Rebecca McCabe and Honky Tonk Confidential in Volta Park.

"Concert goers can participate in a park clean-up and planting project, a book swap, bicycle tune-ups and repair provided by the Farmer’s Market Bike Clinic and a BabyLove donation truck accepting gently used baby gear and clothing," according to a press release.

Price: Free.

2. Taste of Arlington

When/Where: Sunday noon to 5 p.m. in Ballston on Wilson Boulevard between North Glebe Road and North Randolph Street.

Why Go: According to the Ballston BID, "More than 40 of Arlington's favorite restaurants and most exciting chefs will serve up their specialties at this year's festival and this is your chance to sample them all!”

Price: Admission is free. You must buy ticket books ($35) to sample food. Each ticket book has 10 tickets.

3. Saint Sophia Cathedral Greek Festival

When/Where: Friday and Saturday noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m. at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 36th Street and Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

Why Go: This annual Greek festival "brings the best of Greek food, drink and culture to the D.C. area," according to the event notice. Gyro anyone?

Price: Free to attend; food prices vary.

4. Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival

When/Where: Friday at dusk in Gateway Park, 1300 Lee Highway, in Arlington, Va.

Why Go: Kick off the summer movie season with The Breakfast Club this Friday in Rosslyn. Pack a picnic and go back to the 80's when high school students passed notes on paper and texting didn't exist.

Price: Free.

5. Little Seasons - Petting Zoo

When/Where: Saturday noon to 2 p.m. at Little Seasons, 3222 O St. NW.

Why Go: According to the event notice, "Come meet our staff and take a tour of our preschool as we explore and learn about animals, host some arts and crafts and meet some exciting critters."
