Why Go: According to the event notice, actor and filmmaker Richard Schiff will offer a "special screening of 'Chasing the Hill,' a political drama about the challenges of running for Congress. The film intersperses real politicians such as Gov. Gray Davis, Gov. Ed Rendell, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and Terry McAuliffe with cameos by Lawrence O'Donnell and ABC's Rick Klein and scenes from the Democratic National Convention and the 2013 Presidential Inauguration."

2. A Celtic Celebration at National Presbyterian Church

When/Where: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Ave. NW., Washington.
Why Go: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the Fairfax Choral Society’s Adult Chorus along with the Washington Symphonic Brass. They will perform “Irish Blessing,” “O Danny Boy,” “Highland Cathedral,” and other Celtic ballads and folk songs.
Price: $25 for adults, $15 for students.
3. Art Underground Launches in Crystal City
When/Where: Art Underground launches with an open house and free "mega paint-off" from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at 2100 Crystal Drive in Arlington.
Why Go: Support local artists! The Crystal City Business Improvement District is turning five blocks of retail space in an arts and cultural destination with galleries, studios, interactive exhibits and special events, according to its website.
Price: Admission is free
4. O'Tasty: Celtic Punk at IOTA Club & Cafe
When/Where: 9 p.m. Saturday at IOTA, 2832 Wilson Blvd., Arlington
Why Go: Celebrate St. Patrick's weekend with live music! And if you have too many pints, don't forget SoberRide.

5. Washington, D.C., St. Patrick's Day Parade
When/Where: Noon Sunday on Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets, NW. The parade route is easily accessible from the Federal Triangle, Archives-Navy Memorial and Smithsonian Metro stations.
Why Go: According to the parade website, "Over 100 marching bands, military units, dance schools, floats and a variety of other groups and organizations participate in the St. Patrick’s Parade of Washington DC each year."
Price: Free to attend.
