Weekend Planner: Wedding Dresses, Historic Dog-Walking and Futbol

A preview of some of what is going on in the nation's capital this weekend.

Football may be back to dominating our weekends this fall, but for those looking to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather, look no further than Patch's Weekend Planner in Washington, D.C.

Brides against Breast Cancer, a national non-profit that supports cancer patients and their families, is bringing its "Nationwide Tour of Gowns," to the Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington on Sep. 14. Local brides are invited to shop for new and used wedding dresses in all styles and sizes, and all of the proceeds will go to the non-profit organization.

All the President's Pups, a dog-friendly walking tour of historic Mount Vernon, is returning to the DC area every Saturday through the end of October. Guests and their four-legged friends will walk a 1.25 mile path around Mount Vernon with stops at five historic sites on the property. The event, inspired by George Washington's love of dogs, is a way for history buffs to enjoy the weather with their pets.

The Keegan Theatre concludes its performance of "A Few Good Men" this weekend in Northwest Washington. The final shows will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday night and 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Tickets are still available and range from $30-35.

American football may have just made its triumphant return, but Washington's futbol team is in the final stretch of its 2013 season.

The DC United will face off against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday at RFK Stadium beginning at 4 p.m. Tickets are still available for the match, and they can be purchased either at the stadium or on the team's website.
