White House Easter Egg Roll Lottery Is Open

The lottery for free tickets runs through Monday, Mar. 5 at 10 a.m.

The lottery to attend this year's White House Easter Egg Roll is officially open! The theme for the 2012 event is “Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move!” to continue to work First Lady Michelle Obama has been doing to promote healthy lifestyles.

According to a White House website, the event will be open to more than 35,000 people. The South Lawn will be the site of "games, stories, cooking demonstrations and, of course, the traditional egg roll on the Lawn."

All lottery participants will be notified via email of the results on Monday, Mar. 12.

To enter the lottery, go to www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll. Tickets are free of charge and cannot be sold.

In addition to the lottery, the White House had organized a poster contest open to all elementary and middle school students. According to the event website, the designs "should reflect this year’s theme, 'Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move!'" and The First Lady will select the winner. The winning entry will appear in the White House 2012 Easter Egg Roll program.
