YOUR PHOTOS: DC Blanketed in Snow Thursday

Washington, D.C. woke up to a thick blanket of snow Thursday morning after a snowstorm that started Wednesday night that brought 8.6 inches of snow to DC, according to snow totals posted Thursday morning by the National Weather Service.

The forecast for Thursday in DC is for snow, freezing rain, and sleet. High near 34. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Thursday night forecast is for snow, mainly before 2 am. Low around 27. Northwest wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday for DC.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. Friday for DC.

Friday is expected to be sunny with a high of 39 degrees.
