Choro Festival at Millennium Stage: Choro Trio

The Brazilian Embassy and the Kennedy Center are joining forces to present the Choro Festival at the Millennium Stage. With origins in Rio de Janeiro, Choro is a Brazilian popular and instrumental music genre that was all the rage when radio first came to the country, but later died out by the 1960s. Now back with the help of young musicians, the style is again popular in Rio.

The Choro Trio is made up of  bandolinist Luis Barcelos, 22 years old, guitarist Caio Marcio and drummer and percussionist Carlos Cesar Motta. The young group is known for infusing the traditional music with contemporary flair.

The event is open to the public for free, no tickets required.
