Holidays through History! Four Georgetown Museums

Visit the cherished past at four museum neighbors, Tudor Place, Anderson House, Dumbarton House and the Woodrow Wilson House as we jointly throw open our doors for a holiday open house! Guests are invited to stroll the historic rooms of any or all of the mansions, delighting in period decorations and music that reflect holiday traditions from the Federal period through the Roaring Twenties, and also sample seasonal treats and crafts projects.

• Dumbarton House will be decorated in elegant and simple Federal-period style with greenery and an elaborate dining table. In the Parlor, musicians will perform, and visitors can take in the case exhibition, Music in the Federal Period, featuring music treasures from the President James Monroe family. Refreshments and crafts for all ages will be offered in the Belle Vue Room ballroom.
• Enter the 1920 and 30s at Tudor Place, home to descendants of Martha Washington, where the display features treasured toys, objects and holiday decorations from the six generations of Custis Peters who lived there. The Seraphim singers will perform, refreshments will be served, and children can make holiday cards in workshops led by Artist-in-Residence Peter Waddell.
• Woodrow Wilson House, the Embassy Row residence of our 28th President, brings us back to the elegance of 1915, where a splendid tree fills the solarium and radiates light through the stairway's Palladian window. Fittingly, guests can explore the multimedia exhibition, Woodrow Wilson, President Electric: Harnessing the Power of Innovation in the Progressive Era, exploring advances of the Progressive Era.
• Rooms will feature the themes of Gilded Age Christmas at Anderson House, a 1905 Beaux Arts mansion: Decorations, Gift Giving, Entertaining and Charity. A pianist will play traditional holiday music on the Andersons' 1898 Steinway, children can craft ornaments, and light refreshments will be served in the Winter Garden.  Also on view is an exhibit, France in the American Revolution, honoring the two nations' defining alliance.

Shuttle bus transportation will be provided among sites.
