Georgetowners Invited to Masked Ball at Italian Embassy

This year's Georgetown Gala will honor Herbert and Patrice Miller.

Georgetowners are invited to a Venetian Carnivale for the annual Citizens Association of Georgetown Gala, which will be a masked affair at the Italian Embassy this year.

The event Oct. 18 will honor Herbert and Patrice Miller, long-time Georgetown residents who moved away from the neighborhood just this year.

According to a press release, the Gala Committee agreed that, “We couldn’t let them leave without a proper goodbye!”

Italian Ambassador and Mrs. Claudio Bisogniero will be Honorary Chairs for the gala, being held at the Italian Embassy on Whitehaven Street for the first time ever. Most recently the gala has been at the Russian Embassy.

This year's Venetian Carnivale masked ball will include an Italian dinner buffet, musical entertainment, unique live auction items and an after party for the "younger set."

Look for Opera singers upon arrival, listen to DC Love Band during cocktails and dinner, and then start dancing to music selected by DJ Adrian Loving.

According to a press release, this is the first time the formal gala will be followed by an after party with dancing until 1 a.m., thanks to the direction of Co-Chairs Colleen Girouard and Robin Jones.
