1. Clarendon Day

When/Where: Near the Clarendon Metro

Why Go: Clarendon's largest street festival promises live music, food from Clarendon restaurants and craft beer. There will also be rides and a Kids Zone. Read our full festival guide. Patch is a sponsor of this year's Clarendon Day.

2. Family Movie Night at Stoddert Recreation Center

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Stoddert Recreation Center's field, 4001 Calvert St. NW

Why Go: Enjoy some beautiful weather and family-friendly films close to  home. Stoddert will be showing "Hop" or "Madagascar 3." If there is inclement weather the film will move inside.

Price: Free.

3. PARK(ing) Day

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Wilson Boulevard and Lynn Street intersection in Rosslyn

Why Go: According to a flier, PARK(ing) is a "world-wide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public spaces." As part of the event, Arlington's homelessness assistance group, A-SPAN, is collecting gently-used professional attire to in a jumbo shopping cart created by artist J.P. Flick.

4. Hoya Fall Picnic

When/Where: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday just inside the front gates of the university, 37th & O Street NW.

11:30 a.m. - Grace Notes
11:50 a.m. - GU Pep Band
12:30 p.m. - Georgetown Chimes
1 p.m. - Saxatones
1:30 p.m. - Superfood

Why Go: Enjoy grilled society burgers, entertainment from the GU Pep Band and Georgetown Chimes, and games for kids of all ages, including a caricaturist, balloon twister and face painting.

5. National Weather Service Open House

When/Where: 9 a.m. Saturday at 43858 Weather Service Road in Sterling

Why Go: If you've caught the weather bug, the National Weather Service is hosting a rare open house. See a weather balloon launch and meet with meteorologists.
