Street Performers Take the Kennedy Center Stage

Metro's Art in Transit program joins forces with The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.

The MetroPerforms! showcase at The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage Sunday will feature musicians and dancers who have performed at Metro stations and on the National Mall this summer, according to a Metro news release.

MetroPerforms! is the performing arts component of Art in Transit, a program to integrate art and performance into the ridership experience. Performers are volunteers selected through competitive auditions to "take the stage" at Metro station entrances during the warm weather season.

This year's genres range from jazz to hip hop to dance.

Featured acts include:

  • Saxophonist Kristoffer Wright
  • Neo-soul instrumentalists SynchronCity
  • Storyteller Nana Malaya Rucker
  • Vocalist Patricia Tommy
  • Harpist Nora Kelsall
  • Acappella quartet See Jane Sing
  • Acappella trio The Light
  • Hip-hop dance troop O.B.E.Y. Crew
  • Vocalist/guitar player Luke Reddick
  • Violinist Nicholas Wilson
The free, public showcase is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage.
