Update: Wisconsin Ave. Water Outage

DC water reported that water had been restored on the 1200 block Wisconsin Avenue around midnight.

An earlier Washington, D.C. alert reported a water outage on the 1200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, near the intersection of N Street at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

One home and 15 businesses were affected by the break, said DC Water spokeswoman Pamela Mooring.

A water main broke and the water was shut off, she said.

A repair team went to the location around 6 p.m., and the estimated time to repair the outage is six to eight hours.

There was no way of knowing the cause of the break until DC Water excavated the pipe, Mooring said.

But this time of year, main breaks are common, she said.

And especially with the recent cold snap, DC Water has seen an increase, she said.
