7-Eleven Closed Until Late September

The store at 2617 P St., NW is under construction.

The 7-Eleven at 2617 P St., NW will remain closed until late September as workers construct a planned expansion into 2619 P St., NW, the .

"We wouldn't be able to operate that store in any capacity during the remodel," explained Margaret Chabris, a spokesperson for 7-Eleven.

The convenience store will absorb the former P Street Pictures space, growing to an estimated 2,500-3,000 square feet.

Nearby neighbors initially opposed the expansion plans. After , the 24-hour convenience store came up with a design scheme and plan that the community was able to get behind.
