7-Eleven's Expansion Plan Receives Community Support

The convenience store plans to expand into the former P Street Pictures space at 2619 P St., NW.

Neighbors offered their support for 7-Eleven's during the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission meeting Monday. After , the 24-hour convenience store came up with a design scheme and plan that the community was able to get behind.

Among the changes to address neighbors' concerns, 7-Eleven agreed to keep the primary entrance for the shop on P Street, rather than have the entrance be at the corner of 27th and P Streets. That corner will have an ADA compliant entrance to allow access for those who cannot easily use the P Street entrance because of a step at the door. Neighbors asked that the ADA door be locked at all times and opened with a buzzer should someone require access.

The team agreed to a sign scheme that is flesh with the brick of the building and they specially-designed a blade sign to make the 7-Eleven logo fit within the context of Georgetown.
