After the Flood: Lawsuit and Brunch Cancellations at the Waterfront

A bartender has entered into a class action lawsuit against MRP Realty; Farmers and Fishers cancels Mother's Day brunch reservations.

As businesses continue to rid themselves of water-logged items and clean the mess from , the aftermath is only just beginning.

has been calling patrons with brunch reservations for as far out as Mother's Day to cancel. The reservation representatives are telling some customers that the restaurant may not re-open until July. A request for comment on the July estimate was not returned prior to posting.

Brunch cancellations, however, are the least of the worries for property owner MRP Realty, which had a class-action lawsuit filed against it Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

According to a report in the Washington Business Journal, a bartender from Farmers & Fishers filed a $5 million lawsuit against MRP Realty for estimated wages lost by the various employees of the Washington Harbour complex.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges the management company received sufficient notice to be able to raise the flood gate and to prevent the flooding the occurred Monday.
