Bandolero Opening Delayed in Georgetown

Mike Isabella is opening a pop-up version of the restaurant in Cleveland Park.

Unable to open a space quickly at the former Hook location in Georgetown, celebrity chef Mike Isabella plans to open Bandolero temporarily at the Tackle Box restaurant in Cleveland Park, a spokeswoman for Graffiato confirmed Monday.

The Mexican-themed restaurant is the first of two new trendy spots Isabella plans to unveil this year.

The  has been delayed by construction work there, but that site remains the ultimate destination for Bandolero. Meanwhile, Isabella will use Tackle Box to 'preview' the trendy new Mexican place.

It will be pricey — $65 per person for a five-course dinner.  If you want to sample the offerings somewhat less expensively, you might try to join the crowd on Cinco de Mayo (May 5) when the new place will be open from noon to 1 a.m. The restaurant will be offering free margaritas between 5 and 7 p.m.

Washingtonian magazine first reported the plans for Bandolero's temporary Cleveland Park location.
