Best of Georgetown Contest: Eating Out and Avoiding Tourists

What are your favorite spots in Georgetown?

Over the next four weeks Georgetown Patch is asking: What are your favorite spots in Georgetown?

We’ll focus on a new category each week. Write a review for your favorite place and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a $50 AMC Theatres gift certificate!

This week’s focus: avoiding tourists. Spring is upon us, summer is close on its heels and the tourists have descended upon our fair city. Georgetown is particularly appealing to the fanny-pack crowd. Where can locals enjoy a meal and a respite from slow-walkers and line-standers? Tell us in the comments below the name of your favorite restaurant for avoiding tourists.

Then, find that restaurant’s listing in our Directory and write a review on the listing page to be entered into the contest. The winner will be picked at random from all the reviews at the end of the month, so you're free to leave reviews on multiple listings if you have more than one favorite!

Check back next week for a new Best of Georgetown category and another chance to be entered into the drawing.

Don't see a listing for your favorite place? Just email directorydc@patch.com and we'll get it added to the Directory so that you can write your review.

The best off the beaten path dining spot in Georgetown is THE BOOEYMONGER at the corner of Prospect and Potomac. Absolutely terrific sandwiches, a full breakfast menu, great coffee, a relaxed, casual atmosphere, run by young, energetic, fun people. I've been stopping here for close to 3 decades, and it remains a favorite of mine, year in and year out. And the prices are very reasonable. But don't tell the tourists about this place. It is for students and locals.
