The new Capella Georgetown Hotel under construction at 1050 31st St. NW will open in February, according to the Washington Post. The 49-room hotel had originally indicated a desire to open in time for the inauguration.

The building, which sits next to the C&O Canal, has been undergoing a complete interior renovation. When it opens, it will feature a canal-side restaurant and lounge, an executive boardroom for guest use, and, on the rooftop, a pool, bar, and full-service spa.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Horst H. Schulze, the founder of the Capella brand of hotels, explained why this new edition would be different from other luxury brands:
"My vision for Capella came out of my time, of course, with Ritz-Carlton. It was very clear when I retired, that the luxury segment was splitting up again into new segments — affordable luxury and ultra-luxury, if you will. It turned out that [the wealthy] were really looking for a different product — more personalization, private accommodations. We looked at that and said, how can we deliver that?"
