Could Ladurée Come to Georgetown?

The French macaron brand has its sights set on additional U.S. locations.

"When you go to Paris, you must go to Ladurée," my friend told me this spring.

The Parisian macaron brand is pricey, chic and ubiquitous. It makes Georgetown Cupcake look so — how do you say — Américain. For the uninitiated, macarons are confectioneries made of sweet meringue.

The macaron shop has one New York location (864 Madison Ave.) and recently announced that they are planning to open another in SoHo, which will be the "biggest Ladurée in the world," according to Pierre-Antoine Raberin, the CEO and vice president of Ladurée, as quoted in The Daily Meal.

What's more, Raberin told The Daily Meal that Washington, D.C. has a certain appeal, along with cities like Chicago, Miami and San Francisco.

Georgetown recently got its first in (1669 Wisconsin Ave.) on Book Hill.
