Cupcakes for Concerts

Buy a special cupcake this week at Sprinkles and all proceeds go to Georgetown's Concerts in the Parks.

Support community concerts by giving into your cupcake craving this week.

From May 16 to 20, Sprinkles will donate the proceeds from vanilla cupcakes to the Citizens Association of Georgetown's Concerts in the Parks.

Concerts in the Parks are supported by volunteers who help with the planning and production of the series of three concerts each summer.

As Besty Cooley, the executive director for CAG said, though the concerts are free to the public there are expenses, "the bands, the show mobiles and generators (rented from the city); publicity, park usage fees, banners, Playbills, etc." all add up.

Sprinkles support and your cupcake purchases will help offset those costs.

Cooley said concert goers and their pups should look for a Sprinkles employee "bringing Specially-for-Dogs mini cupcakes to the Concert on May 22."

Jennifer Altemus the president of CAG said the partnership with Sprinkles was actually a suggestion that came from the Nancy Miyahira at the Georgetown Business Improvement District. Altemus reached out to Sprinkles when the cupcakery first came to the neighborhood since the company commits to supporting local non-profits where they have stores.
