Help the Homeless VIP Lounge

On June 2, 2012, Georgetown Ministry Center, a program serving homeless people in Georgetown, will be holding its first Fannie Mae Help the Homeless event of the year at the Taste of Georgetown.  “The Help the Homeless event will help raise awareness of the plight of homeless people and raise money for our programs,” according to Gunther Stern, executive director of Georgetown Ministry Center.   According to Stern, in addition to cold beverages, Help the Homeless participants will be rewarded with 3 Taste of Georgetown tickets—a value of $15, a Help the Homeless t-shirt and other fun perks.

The Georgetown Ministry Center will be opened as the VIP Lounge for Help the Homeless participants.  Center staff will be on hand to ensure guests are comfortable while they sample the culinary treats of twenty-five of DC’s finest restaurants at the Taste of Georgetown.  “While we hope to benefit from the huge success of the Taste of Georgetown, this will be a distinctly different event,” comments Stern.

“We are grateful to the Georgetown BID for organizing the Taste of Georgetown, which in itself benefits GMC, ” explains Stern.  “We also appreciate that we can bring our Help the Homeless event to the Taste in order to raise awareness about the homeless.”
