A Special Evening to Support the Parents of Premature Babies
Graham’s Foundation’s Washington DC Power to Grow event will recognize the parents of premature babies with an evening of custom cocktails, gourmet treats, and a silent auction
Graham’s Foundation (www.GrahamsFoundation.org), a non-profit organization offering practical and emotional support to the parents of premature babies throughout the US and Canada, has announced it is partnering with Preemies Today (www.preemiestoday.org) to host a one-of-a-kind event in Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 to raise funds and raise awareness of how something as common as premature birth can be an incredibly challenging and transformative experience for mothers, fathers, and caregivers.
"Preemies Today is thrilled to partner with Graham's Foundation for the Power to Grow event," said Executive Director Mary Beth Hazelgrove. "It is exciting to work with such a wonderful organization that shares a similar mission to ours."
The Power to Grow night out will take place at the Hotel Palomar on P Street, NW, where attendees may taste delicious Tito’s Handmade Vodka martinis while bidding on fantastic silent auction items.
According to Nick Hall, who founded Graham's Foundation with his wife Jennifer after they experienced the birth of twins at just 25 weeks before facing the trials the neonatal intensive care unit and the loss of one child, "When Graham's Foundation creates fundraisers, one of our primary goals is always to raise awareness of not only how common prematurity is, but also of just how courageous and dedicated the parents of preemies are."
Every year, over 500,000 premature babies are born in the United States. These babies often require intensive medical care for months, and their parents find themselves dealing with extreme emotions and practical issues that are difficult to overcome.
"We are incredibly grateful for the support we continue to receive from individuals and from organizations like Preemies Today because that support allows us to give what comfort and support we can to the parents of preemies during what is likely one of the most difficult periods of their lives," added Nick. "The Washington, DC Power to Grow event will honor the courage and commitment of the moms and dads who live through the journey of prematurity."
