Experience the Aroma and Atmosphere of LUSH

Stop in and get pampered with these all natural, handmade, cosmetics.

Has a distinct sweet aroma caught your attention as you walked down M Street, near Barnes & Noble? In case you have never paused to investigate the source, it comes from Georgetown's very own .

"I wandered in off the street, one day, because I smelled the products. They sat me down and I had the hand treatment. I walked away with a bunch of amazing products. I've used almost everything in here or at least tried," said Melissa Legg, a LUSH employee. She has been working at LUSH for five years and is well versed in the art of LUSH.

Walking into LUSH is like stepping into a cosmetic grocery store, but instead of fresh produce, there is a variety of fresh cosmetic products. You will find soaps, shampoos, ocean salt, fresh face masks, natural cleansers, body butters, bath balms and bubbles to name a few.

"LUSH is an experience! It's a place to come and get pampered with fresh, handmade, products. Fresh as in the freshest we can find," says Legg.

Founded on the eco-friendly morals of Mark Constantine in the UK, LUSH is dedicated to  producing fresh, handmade products that use minimal preservatives and are “naked,” meaning that LUSH uses minimal packaging. LUSH also participates in fair trade, is completely against animal testing, and focuses on eliminating the use of palm oil in their products.

The employees strongly urge the curious to experience LUSH for themselves. “We try to build relationships with the customers. We are like your own personal beauty consultants, and we get to know what your skin really needs,” said Legg. LUSH employees also demonstrate how to use these unique products.

Stop by LUSH on Saturday, Feb. 12 for the LUSH’s Valentine’s Day party from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. At this pre-Valentine’s Day pampering session, “we will be doing free facials, hand treatments, and massage demos. We’re also having a raffle for one of our gift sets, and you can also enter to win an after hour’s spa party,” said Legg.

LUSH will be featuring their limited edition P.S. I Love You collection, which includes products such as The Ex Factor for the love-spurned and The Frog Prince for the romantics. The Ex Factor “idea is if you are really upset with an ex, it’s like a voodoo doll. You can break it apart, let some of the steam off, and relax,” said Legg. The Frog Prince is “shaped like a frog. You pop it into the tub, and it becomes a prince,” said Legg.
