Free Ice Cream for Sprinkles Georgetown's Anniversary

March 3 marks two years since Sprinkles cupcakes opened in Georgetown.

Red velvet ice cream awaits the first 200 customers at Sprinkles Georgetown's cupcake shop, 3015 M St. NW, starting at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Though the ice cream is currently only offered at the Sprinkles Ice Cream in Beverly Hills, which opened in 2012, the red velvet ice cream will be available for customers Sunday as a second anniversary treat.

Sprinkles opened on M Street NW in 2011.

In the two years since Sprinkles opened in Georgetown, the shop has donated some $250,000 to local organizations and non-profits like the Citizens Association of Georgetown, Baby Love DC, Washington Hospital Center and more, according to the press release.

"A core component of our mission is to be the charitable cupcake bakery,” Nelson explained in the press release.
