Fudgesicles for Grownups at Georgetown Business

In heat like this, Fleurir Chocolates knows grownups need a cool treat too.

In a city known for its hot, humid summers, boutique on P Street is reminding people that chocolate can be a refreshing summer treat. Look for grownup version of fudgesicles starting Friday.

The husband and wife team, Ashley Hubbard and Robert Ludlow, behind Fleurir are always playing with new ideas and coming up with new chocolate creations.

"We've been developing this and playing with recipes for the last two months," said Hubbard.

According to Ludlow, the process for making fudgesicles "does actually follow a similar process as making a ganache, but the proportions are all completely different in order to get it to freeze- and you replace the cream with milk."

Can you call that low fat?

With flavors like white chocolate banana, mind, lavender shiraz and, of course, classic fudge, no one is counting calories.

Fleurir posted yesterday to Facebook that they were in hot pursuit of the perfect freezer to store their frozen treats. Four hours later, an update, "good news! A mini freezer was found and purchased!"

Hubbard said the fudgesicles will be individually packaged and only available in the store (they sell other products online).

The frozen chocolate treats should be for sale starting Friday.

"Hopefully for the first couple days, they’ll sell out," said Hubbard.
