Georgetown 7-Eleven Uses Twitter to Keep in Touch

The store at 2617 P St. NW is under construction.

Georgetown's 7-Eleven owners are using Twitter to keep in touch with patrons while the shop is .

A sign posted on the side of the building reads, "We are pleased to have been of service to our neighbors since the early 1960s. Follow our remodeling progress on #Georgetown711. We thank you for your 50 years of loyalty."

The convenience store will absorb the former P Street Pictures space, growing to an estimated 2,500-3,000 square feet.

The twitter account is actually @Georgetown711 and has only sent out two tweets, both on Aug. 4.

The first reads: "The construction is going as scheduled! Already We miss all our guests and the fun we have."

The second states: "This is the first time we were closed in over 20 years, We never had a key for the door."

In late July, a spokeswoman for 7-Eleven told Patch the Georgetown location would remain closed until late September while undergoing rennovations.
