Georgetown Businesses Weather the Storm

Though thousands in the suburbs are without power after , it is "business as usual" in Georgetown.

When the storm rolled through the region Friday night, many guests decided to hunker down at on M Street, instead of venturing into the gusting winds, said Greg Jasgur, the bar manager.

"It was a nice communal atmosphere," he said, they were "fighting the elements together."

Pizzeria Paradiso did lose its Internet connection, which made some in-house work difficult, but it did not impact guests, Jasgur explained.

Though the Clyde's restaurant group closed two of its restaurants, one in Maryland and the other in Virginia, the Georgetown location has been busy.

The power outages "actually helped us out," said Manager Chris Davis.

His restaurant has been seen in influx of guests coming for a meal and air conditioning.

"We hit a home run," he said.

Over that the on the Georgetown Waterfront it has been, "just business as usual," said Grant Leygraaf, the service manager.

"We’ve experienced really no change," he added.

Across the District approximately 60,000 customers remain without power following storm, according to a DC government email update. Most of Georgetown is not impacted by the outages, but neighboring Glover Park and Palisades are still waiting for relief.
