Why Go: According to the event's website, His Holiness the Dalai Lama "will give teachings to present the foundations of Buddhist thought on July 9, 10 and 11." It may not sound like a typical Saturday out on the town, but if you're in the mood for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you'll not want to miss this event.

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $35 to $45.

5. "Wicked" at The Kennedy Center

Where/When: The Kennedy Center, 2700 F St., NW, Washington. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: You don't have to head to New York City to catch one of the past decade's most popular Broadway shows. "Wicked" has returned to Washington and tickets are selling out fast.

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $37 to $250.
