Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Weekend Planner

It’s Thursday. The weekend is so close you can almost taste it. Downside? You’ve got no idea what to do during your two days of freedom.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We've picked out some of the best events around Arlington and D.C. for your done-work-outta-here time. Is it 5 p.m. on Friday yet?

Where/When: , 1101 Wilson Blvd, Arlington. Sunday, 4 p.m.

Why Go: The man in the question mark jacket - infomercial veteran Matthew Lesko -  will be attending the premier of a documentary on his life at the D.C. Independent Film Festival. If you're into kooky personalities, or can't seem to turn away from those late-night pitches on how "Free Money" can change your life, you won't want to miss this movie.

Pricing: General admission, $10.

2. Washington National Opera presents "Madama Butterfly"

Where/When: Kennedy Center Opera House, 2700 F Street, NW, Washington. Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Several performances of Puccini's classic opera have sold out at the Kennedy Center, but tickets are still available for this Saturday night performance. Be sure to grab some seats while they're still left. The show runs through March 19.

Pricing: Tickets range from $55 to $300.

Where/When: , 1819 35th St. NW, Washington. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: In the mood for a shopping spree? Ready for new spring clothes? Skip the mall and peruse the flea market at your own pace.

Pricing: General admission is free.

Where/When: , 627 N Glebe Rd., Arlington. Friday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Come out and skate at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex and raise money for a good cause - all at the same time! The Crystal City Pentagon Rotary Club will use proceeds from the event to help eradicate polio.

Pricing: Tickets are $10 and include skate rental.

Where/When: Sprinkles Cupcakes, 3015 M St. NW, Washington. Thursday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Because Georgetown can't possibly have enough cupcake shops.

Pricing: Free to attend and soak in the mayhem - but the cupcakes will cost ya.
