COOGI, a clothing store currently located at 1336 Wisconsin Ave. NW, will be replaced by a GNC store.
According to the GNC website, the company is the "largest global specialty retailer of nutritional products; including vitamin, mineral, herbal and other specialty supplements and sports nutrition, diet and energy products."
GNC is on the Old Georgetown Board's Jan. 3 agenda. According to the agenda, GNC is seeking a permit for "Sign scheme: signs, awning, and internally-illuminated sign for 'GNC Live Well.'"
To confirm the change, Patch called COOGI, which also operates under the name Bel Mondo, according to online government records. The person who answered the phone and gave his name as Mehdi, but refused to give his last name, confirmed that COOGI would be replaced by GNC. He said the clothing store would be moving "somewhere else" in Georgetown.
Currently, the closest GNC store to Georgetown is in Dupont Circle (1330 Connecticut Ave., NW).
