Rialto, an Italian restaurant concept from the team at Thunderburger, will be opening at the former The Guards space on M Street in Georgetown, according to the Washingtonian.
The Guards closed at 2915 M St., NW in 2012. The new restaurant will rely on a familiar face in Georgetown, Ryan Fichter, the chef at Thunderburger, which is just a stone's throw away at 3056 M St., NW.
A rep describes the food as a “blend of old-world Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist.” The small plates—piattini—on offer will be prepared in open kitchens and paired with selections from an “extensive” wine list.
Rialto is aiming for a mid-September opening date.
