Local Designer's Swimwear Heats Up Georgetown Waterfront

The patio at Nick's Riverside Grill hosted a runway show June 12.

Arlington-based and Brazilian-born designer Emily Gonzaga hosted her brand's first headline show in the DC region at the Georgetown waterfront Jun 12.

Gonzaga debuted her brand D’Milikah's 2013 High Summer Swimwear Collection at a runway show on the Nick's Riverside Grill patio at the Washington Harbour. The line features, "exotic animal prints, and 80’s style inspiration all with a Brazilian flair," according to a press release.

D’Milikah items were first released at the Celebrity Grammy Gift Lounge this year and were then invited to be part of the Emmy Nominee Gift bag, according to a press release.

Gonzaga told Patch in February that the name D’Milikah stems in part from a nickname she had growing up — ”Mili” from Emily and “kah” from her surname Kennerly.
